The Story So Far...

Welcome to the Forest Poodles blog; this is my first post. In honor of the upcoming Poodle Party Day (June 1st) celebrating the birthdays of two Standard Poodles - Teddy and D'Art - I am starting a journal of our adventures together. Forest Poodles is about loving life out in the country with two dogs by my side. I aim to discuss our daily adventures, as well as those that directly relate to living outside city bounds.

I've been following a few amazing blogs since becoming the proud guardian of two lovely dogs and have discovered a community that I treasure and find great inspiration from. Although I don't aim to be an award winning blog, I hope to leave a small paw print on the world of dog blogs. The name Forest Poodles directly relates to the fact that we live out in the country and although we are very near farmland, we are also surrounded by forest - so the boys and I spend a lot of time traversing the forest floor together. Get ready for some country adventures!

But first, meet Teddy and D'Art...

Teddy was adopted from a last-chance shelter in September of 2012. This shelter takes dogs and cats from other shelters that are full-to-capacity with high-euthanasia rates. Teddy joined the family at 4 years old and the exact date of his birth remains unknown, but we celebrate him on June 1st. He loves being outside, surveying the land, and sometimes struggles with being in noisy places with lots of distractions to excite him. He's a nature-lover at heart, who loves nothing more than watching the world go by, or playing with his favorite ball. Teddy is trustworthy and learns new tricks at the drop of a hat. He has a few special dog friends that he enjoys a good walk or play session with.

D'Artagnan (D'Art to his friends) is a senior sweetheart with the spirit of a puppy! He joined the family at age 8 in April of 2013, through an adoption hosted by our local poodle club. For the first couple of weeks Teddy seemed to wonder when this big goofy guy was going home, but now they are good friends! As you know, opposites can attract and Teddy and D'Art are opposite in many ways. D'Art loves to be social and I can take him anywhere - he doesn't mind crowds or busy places. He's always ready to play and is happy as long as he is close to his humans. He doesn't always do what he's told, but his listening skills have come a long way since welcoming him into the family. D'Art was born sometime in June, so June 1st is Poodle Party Day around here.

Thanks for taking the time to read our first post! Check back again sometime for more of our adventures! After all, Poodle Party Day is just around the corner...
